Earth shield and other new features/changes:
I've implemented a lot more, like a money system and springs in all directions, but I didn't show them in this GIF. Also, I didn't forget about the criticism, but I'll implement it after I've done some more stuff (for example, checkpoints and more kinds of shields).

This reminds me a lot of the older GM games, back when new GM users opted for engines instead of premade engines. It's not the greatest game I've ever seen, but it's playable and is more original than the engine clones that new users tend to make. More sound effects, a HUD for the health indicator, and non-stretched backgrounds would all improve this game.
Yeah, I know, it's not too good, but then again, I had few knowledge about Game Maker when I made this. And to be honest, I think improving this would be a waste of time, since I think my time is better spent on my current projects.

Some of you may remember this game I made more than 2 years ago:
That's right, it's QFTGM! Now why are you bringing it back? Did you finally improve that piece of s***? Of course not

. However, I did bring it back for a reason. Remember the bug where you couldn't complete the game, because you got stuck in a factory level? Well, after watching
this video, I decided to create a patch that fixes this bug! That means you can now complete 2 more levels, 2 more bosses and 2 more game modes!
Download it
here. Your old save file still works if you put it in the same folder, but you gotta die once to let the fix do its work. Enjoy!

The Gameboy-styled screen is just perfect, and, like Vinny said, it looks just like a real one. You must have put a lot of work into coding that.

New background, HUD, effect and a brand-new summersault move that replaces the old one. In this new move, you need to press Z in air to get either a horizontal or vertical boost, depending on what arrow key you're holding. It'll also set you in summersaulting state for an unlimited time, until you hit the ground.
Don't worry, these aren't the only features I've done, but these are the main things and the stuff I'd like to have some criticism for. So what do you guys think?
(BTW, an engine test can be found in the first post, though it lacks these features since it's the same one I posted a few weeks ago, that's showcased in the video. I'm just saying this in case someone missed it)

Mario using Kirby abilities is something that really appeals to me, so the beam flower sounds the best to me.
Why don't you have the beam whip? Is it because you couldn't figure out how to make it? It wouldn't be too hard, just do it the same way you would a firebar: have a variable for the angle of the beam which goes down, and use lengthdir_x() and lengthdir_y() to set the positions of the beam segments.
Thanks for voting! I know how to code the whip, but I think the powerup would be too OP if it included the whip. I'm gonna add it for testing purposes anyway, and if it's not too OP, it's gonna be in the game!

I need you guys' opinion. Which of the following powerups should be in demo 5?
Dash mushroom: mario is faster than ever before! The run speed is significally increased and thanks to a dash ability, you can easily get to that maximum speed! It's Sonic's speed, but in a Mario game!
Wrecking mushroom: Mario becomes his good old Wrecking Crew version. The ability is undecided, though
Beam flower: Mario gets the ability to shoot beams like in Kirby Super Star Ultra! Charge for a powerful beam attack that can penetrate enemies. The Beam Whip isn't there, though
Please vote by posting in this thread (cause the poll system is messed up) and of course, powerup ideas you came with yourself are also very welcome!
