A while ago, I tried the zero sugar version of blackberry Dr. Pepper. It was okay. Blackberry sounds like it'd be good with Dr. Pepper, but it just didn't work as well as I thought it would. Figuring that the Dr. Pepper Cherry Zero would be similarly underwhelming, I got a box of it and tried some. I thought it was pretty good, even compared to Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry.
Dr. Pepper Zero and Diet Dr. Pepper aren't quite the same. When I first tried this Dr. P Cherry Zero stuff, I felt like it didn't match up to the old Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry. I tried more of the Cherry Zero the next day and it really grew on me. I'm certain I'm gonna end up ordering more of this stuff from Amazon.
Dr. Pepper is sort of a cherry flavored soda to begin with, but this is like the difference between the encounter rate in Dragon Quest 1 and Final Fantasy III on NES. That is, one's much higher than the other. The cherry flavor that's already there in Dr. Pepper is much stronger here than it is in the normal variety. It's a lot more in line with what I think of when I think of a cherry soda. I can't get Cheerwine on Amazon at a reasonable price, and I'm not sure if the usual places around here stock it anymore. This does pretty nicely for a straight-up cherry soda, in lieu of that.
