Just Bibby and I's Secret project, that we're discussing, nothing to see here.
Bibby's Original Post from eons ago.
Many years ago (dating back before elementary school), I often drew maps of levels for Mario fangames and my own indie game series. One game really took off, and I designed almost 70 good-sized levels for it around 1999-2001. Many years passed before I realized that mere mortals (those of us without super-advanced programming skills) could design playable (sometimes even downright fun!) fangames and indie games using tools like Game Maker and the Clickteam products.
I've been making Mario fangames with GM for about four years now, and while it is pretty fun, focusing on nothing but Mario fangames can be a little limiting. And since the time I discovered GM, I've toyed with the idea of turning some of my old sketches and doodles into a playable game.
Basically, the game I'm talking about is a hybrid of SMB 3, DKC, and Megaman with a touch of Zelda - a generally lighthearted platform game with collectible, equippable weapons with various effects. All enemies and characters are completely original, and since I have literally hundreds of levels already drawn out, level design is pretty much a matter of just adapting them and spicing them up a bit.
This isn't one of those "Make this neat game for me!" threads, as I'm perfectly capable of programming the game and producing the music (some of the songs are already started, in fact), but I'd need a lot of help with the sprites and backgrounds. My art skills aren't that great, and this isn't going to get off the starting grid without some help in that department.
I think we should start developing the concepts a bit more.
I'll post some sheets I've finished once I fine tune a few things.
So heres a style tutorial base:

So far I got the Base sprites for the Frosty enemy done and a base sprite for the zippy enemy.

Enemy list sofar reveiled:
~Frosty, a snowball (approximately one game block in size) with a mildly goofy smile, large eyes (though not quite manga-sized), and small hands and legs. Many enemies are variants on this guy.
~Zippy, a purplish-blue blob that's sort of a cross between the shape of Dragon Quest's iconic Slimes and a chocolate chip. It has small hands and legs and a rather cute face, similar to Frosties, and can spin around to stir up tornadoes.
~Stayel is essentially a green-and-white dragonfly with spikes on his abdomen, and big goofy eyes.
~Totem B. is a zany stackable totem pole section.
~Tirgy is basically a walking yellow triangle that can shoot beams of electricity from its hands and its top.
