Hey everyone. I apparently pretty much forgot that I made an account here (then again, I forgot about mfgg as well).
Anyways, I recently made a song for a music competition on mfgg. I figured I could make it a topic here in an attempt to get some critique. I'm honestly not totally sure what I was doing, as it was my first actual song. I would really appreciate some tips on how to make it better! The theme is winter/christmas.

Welcome back Fez! We could always use some more cool members with nifty headwear around here.
As for your song, it's quite good considering it's the first song you've ever made. What application did you use to compose it? Part of it reminds me of the Whoville singing scene from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." I think it could really shine if you spiced up some of the soundfonts, especially the horns.
Course clear! You got a card.

Thanks! As it's still a bit of a work in progress so I need to clean everything up still, which will involve finding new horns, or just changing that section completely.
I'm using a program called renoise. I'm not sure how it compares to other programs out there, but it seems pretty powerful to me. At the same time, I know that I have hardly scratched the surface of the program. |
