Well,
One laptop i was working on today had a ransomware, real nasty one..
I was unable to do ANYTHING. and was about ready to format on orders of the systems owner.
The virus must have glitched or something, cause on one bootup, it didn't hyjack the desktop, or any application for that matter
I decided to take advantage.
Scans:
Spybot search and destroy: No Spyware...odd....
ComboFix: found and removed a rootkit (ZeroAccess)
Avast: 40 infected files, all deleted.
Ive never had a ransomware or virus just suddenly stop functioning before.
But it seems to have worked out for the best.
So far all testing on the machine shows no infection remaining.

That's quite simply amazing. Gotta love when things work out so well like that.
