If "dulce de leche" and "caramel" can be used interchangably then it is not to be called dulce de leche at all. It tastes different than the usual caramel.

Good news, lucky friends! The Dulce de Leche shake seems to be back, at least at McDonald's locations in Florida and Georgia. I don't know if it's available anywhere else, but if it is, it's worth a try.

i can confirm it's available in the midwest under the same name, or at least in indiana. i've seen them in jeffersonville, indiana; that's near the northern border of kentucky
