I'm walking on air right now!
As some of you may be aware, my caligraphy pen ran out of ink, and I need a fountain pen for making comics. Of course, the caligraphy pen is a very Japanese product, and not easily available in my city, and both it and the fountain pen would cost upwards of 30 dollars each at Staples (assuming caligraphy pens are sold there) for about the same quality as the one I bought. I got it at Daiso, in Richmond, where they sell both that and some well-reviewed fountain pens for 2 dollars each!
However, Richmond, a part of Vancouver, is a world away from here. Usually 2 hours by car, and while the West Coast Express shortens that time considerably, it is merely a salaryman commuter train and doesn't run on weekends.
Mum had remained apathetic to the idea of taking me.
So, I devised a schedule that would (utilising various forms of public transport) take me from literally in front of my house, no walking, to Vancouver, and back for less than 20 dollars the whole trip, quite a bit less than the cost of gas for the same distance.
Mum was so impressed that she is letting me do it the weekend after this one!
What about you guys? When was the first time you took a long trip by yourself?

To be honest, I've never gone on a particularly lengthy trip by myself, since I don't have the money for my own car and the public transportation here is rather spotty. Having quality PT in your city is quite a fine thing, though.
I used to have a calligraphy pen, but last time I checked it was running low on ink. I should probably get a new one myself sometime, now that I've seen some of the art you can make with it.
Course clear! You got a card.
