I don't watch anime much, though I absolutely LOVE Hoshi no Kaabii. (And the dub)

Even though I'm Asian, I don't really watch anime. Full Metal Alchemist - Brotherhood is my fav.

I've never really gotten into anime - I've tended to prefer Western animation styles. I'm sure there's some good stuff out there, but most Japanese animation isn't particularly interesting to me.

one anime in particular that'd I'd highly recommend checking out is Tiger & Bunny. The episodes should still be available on Hulu here http://www.hulu.com/tiger-and-bunny (in Japanese audio with English subtitles)

The name's not really very descriptive to those who haven't seen it, it's referring to the two main characters nicknames as they have a sort of buddy cop movie relationship...

What makes this one really interesting is it's very western-styled, revolves around a plot of superheroes in the western sort of way. The superheroes are kind of a ridiculous parody of the way sponsorship works with NASCAR (i guess), idk I don't really want to describe it too much just check it out you won't be disappointed

Full Metal Alchemist - Brotherhood = Awesome

But I don't really watch it anymore, so....

Also does Avatar The Last Airbender count as a anime? Because I think it was made in America..

Probably not. The cultural contexts of where it's made (or at least brainstormed, since I've heard a lot of Western cartoons actually outsource animation a lot) have a big influence on the work regardless of how much inspiration in style it draws from another. Did you know that early anime was heavily inspired by Disney works? The art world is drawing influence from each other all the time.

but sometimes I've seen it grouped in with anime. It really does have a lot of anime elements so it's easy to see why.

Yeah, I've heard Tiger & Bunny is really good, really should get down to watching it.

A show I've been watching recently is this 70's anime called Galaxy Express 999. It's pretty melodramatic, entertaining enough.
