well, more or less, the task is moving cattle from 1 pen or feild to another, some folk on horse back, ATV, and on foot,
all trying to get the cows to move to to a set of opened gates,

Im generally on foot, guarding certain exits that had to be blocked off that could be easily broken, (generally temporary barricades held up using twine, string, or makeshift methods)
I also generally have the task of following behind the herd to keep any who have turned tail and run back from escaping,
I also pack around a stick called a cattle prod,
no, not one of those electrified things from Jurassic park, this is just a stick, often a branch from a tree, a ski poll, ect. its just for poking those who have stopped, to keep them moving forward, and making noise.

Being on foot, one thing i always need to keep in mind is escape points if i find myself in a corner,
Cows weigh a lot, and one certainly doesn't want to be crushed, cows in a panic can effectively be worse than being face to face with a mad bull.

ive dealt with several that pretty much knew routine, some that were dumb as a brick, and others that were just all kinds of spooked.

then theirs the bull, never been attacked by one, had to separate him before too,
you most definitely don't want to get on his bad side though, do nothing that will p*** him off,
be ready to run like hell and dodge, never tangle with one by yourself, know your fastest escape if you are targeted,
Remember: Horns are for offense, and they can do serious damage,
those are some pointers Ive been told in the past, thankfully, I haven't needed any of it yet.

knowing basic first aid and having a fully stocked first aid kit is a must,
as who knows how one can end up getting hurt.

That was really interesting! I can think of few things that could possibly be cooler than being a real-life cowboy.
Course clear! You got a card.
