Why do so many teenagers wear them when the heat index is approaching triple digits Fahrenheit? Please help me unravel the last remaining great mystery of this planet.

This is one mystery that has even our greatest researchers baffled.

really though, I think the whole idea behind kids always wearing them is they think it looks cool.

this is one fad that could cause their deaths Via heat if one is not careful.

I think that most people who wear hoodies are teens that hang out in the streets or just wanna be cool.

I used to do that until I realized it's stupid.

I wear stuff meant for cold weather in the hot weather whenever I can get away with it, since I simply love the heat. So much even that I get rather angry whenever a fan is pointed my way. I never have worn a hoody, though; those things just look weird to me. The great mystery of those that wear those things is probably basically what sspp0310 said.

Another thing I noticed is how teens often wear hoodies because of the conformity of the fashion seen in youth culture, which could of been made mainstream by their idols (famous people in the sports and entertainment industry)

don't see what's so mysterious

they're comfortable, look relatively good, and are easy enough to put on and take off when needed

I remember people wearing shorts out in the winter with snow everywhere back when I was in high school, a much stranger thing

I wear hoodies to keep warm.

If it's rainy I'll wear a windbreaker.
