Have you ever gotten so mad that you sent your computer into the future?, Not a single bit of this is a lie.

Beware, you're about to read about an incredible burst of stupidity on my end. Never hit your computer, especially over one-time problems!

Anyway, that picture happened after I lost it when this thing completely froze (everything but the mouse, unrecoverable without restart) when it was trying to load something. I slapped the thing in the side and it started going nuts. I saw nothing but garbage all over the screen, some of it slightly animated. I powered the thing off by force and restarted, and was amazed that the poor thing was still working. I boot up and log in and try to fix something in Windows Media Player that had frozen earlier upon starting, but I get an error message telling me that the date was set in 9512, which would cause Windows Media Player to crash. I look down in the lower right corner of the screen, and looky there - it is! Did I hit it so hard I ended up changing stuff BIOS-level? The thing seems to be running perfectly fine right now, so I guess things are fine.

I didn't even think you could actually set a date that high!

Miles, Miles. What are you going to do next? I was just sitting there minding my own business, and then you come along and send me 7,500 years into the future!

In the year 9512 I'm kinda wonderin' if your BIOS is gonna be alive.
Course clear! You got a card.

if its any consolation miles, Ive gotten so fed up with one thing in particular ive smashed a keyboard into several pieces.

in all likelyhood btw,
when you slapped your comp, you probably made the bios battery vibrate, thus acting as though the power was being flipped rapidly, that, in term, sent a minor power surge through your system bios, causing save data corruption in the bios sector,
a simple reset should fix any problems you have encountered as a result,

...funny thing though,
your month and day are correct....

My only advice at this point as for making your comp run better, if its become this much of a problem, is to format.

Oh goodness it's the F word. Worry not, this thing ain't in bad shape enough shape to do that by any means, it was a one-time thing that I simply stupidly flipped my lid over.

How often does your computer freeze? Have you isolated the cause to any particular software?

One from never; yes, Windows Media Player. Library load failure, something that seems to take down the whole machine if there's a load of things that were supposed to be available for loading. Might be a Vista-native problem, since it did that to me a couple of times on my laptop too. There's nothing wrong with this thing. (avoid the "yes there is you have Vista" thing if you're thinking of it, I don't plan to replace it until I have to)

...That last statement realize how silly I am. Sticking to Vista and WMP of all things. Still, let a nut be a nut.

Hmmm, first thing first. I need to know when this problem occur or what software you update/install right before the problem occur.

Oh yeah the wonderful Vista,

Oh wait, it's not vista's fault this time.

Any particular reason you're sticking with Windows Media Player? I can understand the hassle of switching over operating systems, but a different media player is just a few clicks away

To be quite honest, nothing more than pure laziness is stopping me from swapping media players.
