I should give this a try, because those sound like some nice new features, even if they're not exactly revolutionary.

I dislike this change. I dislike it to pieces.

Everything else seems cool, though - but I'mma stick with 8.0 for a while.
edit: I swear I typed 8.0 the first time. Doh.

Me too, it's really annoying. I'm also sticking with GM 8 (I supposed that's what you meant) for a while.

I still haven't had much time to spend on GM 8.1, but I'm not sure I like the new room editor either. I wish this update brought us something more revolutionary than a handful of incremental tweaks.

Well, GM8 wasn't such a big improvement over GM7 either, IMO

That's very true. GM 8 at least offered nominal speed and file-size improvements over GM 7, though. I'm not someone who hates on GM just because it's sometimes cool to bash it, but I wish they'd actually work on things that give non-GM users a reason to switch over, like multiplatform support or better online capabilities.

Disagreed, but then again it's just because the set of improvements to the way images work / the image editor (transparency FTW) is a pretty darn big deal to me. Plus that annoying thing when you have a ton of objects, the list goes all screwy is fixed.

I use GIMP as image editor, but I can imagine that IS a big improvement.

GM 8's image editor was an improvement over GM 7's, especially with the alpha effects, although it also took me a little while to get the hang of it.
