Having now played it, I can assure you that it is extremely fun. I got enough points to fight Chaos and see the staff credits, but really I am nowhere near finished the game. I haven't unlocked any characters, and the only permanent song unlock I've got is Dancing Mad.
I quite like the RPG elements, such as abilities and items, they're pretty useful with harder songs.
One thing I wish for is the ability to play The Rebel Army from FF2 in a mode I can get items with, instead of an Event Stage, hahaha! Also, still pining for more songs from my favourite entries in the series, though Something To Protect from FF9, currently only playable in Chaos mode for me, is awesome of course.
Also, the song quality takes a gigantic dive into the abyss after FF11. 12 gets the dubious award of being both challenging and boring due to uncharacteristic tunelessness. On a higher note, I was unaware of the catchiness of some songs, the Field Stage song for FF11 being a standout.
My party consists of Zidane, Onion Knight, Squall, and Tidus, and has since I started the game. The little things they say when levelling up are cute~
There are plenty of things you can waste time collecting. Some are gained as prizes for getting large amounts of points, some randomly drop when killing enemies, and some are recieved when you complete certain requirements. For example, one sector of the many Gotta Catch 'Em All items is collecting trading cards. They've got pictures of enemies and characters on them, and you can see your collection in a binder accessible in the Museum menu, and I'm bringing this up because it has a new remix of Beatrix's theme from FF9 playing as BGM which is really great.
I will probably talk about it more later, but I need to try to fill out this Dark Note's songs for the 4th time.
