The word "epic", a word with many opinions around it

Some like myself may use it from time to time and never really think anything of it. Others may use it a bit too much, preferring it to other words. And then there's those that make the very use of it the very reason for their wish of destruction upon the parts of humanity that dare utter it. What is your say on it?

I don't say it anymore but I don't mind when other people do.

I use it if it actually fits the situation. I don't like it when people just use it as a synonym for "awesome."

I don't really care people using that word nor using the word myself. Besides, I'm posting it all the time. Though yeah, it's getting old. From now on, I'll use "kabazam" instead of "epic."

Btw, epic means long poems. It doesn't make sense how people use it as awesome.

harmless slang doesn't bother me much

this is kinda related tho: i'm not a big fan when people have like everything be one extreme or anyother. like, for example, everything some person likes being EPIC or whatever. there are different words for different levels of awesome, please use them

it's not really a big deal tho lol

I use it on rare occasions. I have no problem hearing it used as a synonym for "cool" or "awesome," as long as it's not overused so much that it becomes vexing.

Also, modern literary folks need to write epic poems more often, like Homer did (and I'm not speaking of the Simpsons dad here!).

Funny coincidence here: I actually started writing one of those! I was wondering why there weren't more modern-day novel-length poems, so I said "what the hell" and started writing one. It's about a magic lyre and stuff. I'm partway into Chapter 2 right now. Hope to find someone who will publish it!

But anyway, I don't know, I'm fine with all uses of the word epic.
