Song: Bone of Contention
Artist: Spirit of the West
Album: Faithlift

I was watching my weird old drama and this song came on, I thought it was pretty cool, so here you go.

The band, Spirit of the West, is from Vancouver and is well-known as far as Canadian alt-folk rock goes. They are most known for the song Home For A Rest, which is incredibly awesome (amazing flute!) and a usual favourite when giving examples of things that pass cancon regulations, along with American Woman and Spirit of Radio.

The thing with them is that they are either great (this song, Home For A Rest, Far Too Canadian [weh, kind of a sad song], etc.) or terribly boring, no in-between. Hate that!

By the way, my favourite buddy cop show has a good soundtrack. Y'know, along with everything else about it being good.

Some lime for your time.

As in a cure for scurvy.

Look, it's a reference to something, okay?! Appropriate for this weekend's Limeys, which I say in a joking manner.

Song: Love You To
Artist: The Beatles
Album: Revolver

Shouldn't need to explain. This is my favourite Beatles song, by George. (heh)

Song: The Everso Closely Guarded Line
Artist: Cardiacs
Album: On Land and In the Sea

Cardiacs are the amazing and possibly laws-of-physics-defying blend of punk and progressive rock. I highly suggest checking out their other stuff, expect more as they are a band I love dearly.

Bone of Contention: Raw, exciting Western (Northern?) song.

Cardiacs: That was wild enough! Not a bad song for late nights procrastinating on bizarre fangames about French Canadian culture, walruses, and girls' high school basketball.

Song: Introduction
Artist: Gracious!
Album: Gracious!

Look! It's a 70's Rock Band That Released Two Albums and Got Nowhere, for a change! Real early band, this was released 1970 in the UK. They Got Nowhere, and they broke up in 1971 due to lack of gigs. Crying shame!

This is a sterling track, listen to that harpsichord! Perfect length, even, not too long, not too short, great riff, catchy, it's got it all!

Song: Watercolour Days
Artist: Clouds
Album: Watercolour Days

Clouds was a Scottish rock band best known for being one of the main precursors to Progressive Rock. They were very close to Getting Somewhere, and have always been supported by David Bowie and the like, but at the last second, their record label decided to focus more on Jethro Tull. I think that was a fantastic move, but a shame that these fellows fell by the wayside.

I like the organ a lot.

Song: Le Repos du Guerrier
Artist: Mes Aïeux
Album: En Famille

A Quebecois "neo-traditional" band. I was listening to the radio, and they were on! Sometimes, good things are found by idly listening to CBC. Sometimes....

This song is what really got me into them! What is this, even? It's prog rock of some sort, listen to those keys in the second half.

They have REALLY good songs. The best album I've heard so far is their second-newest one called La Ligne Orange. Wow! Really cool blend of folk music, French cabaret style things, and progressive rock.

Look, these guys even made a song about poutine. THAT is the way to win me over.
