Plain and simple, I will post one song in this topic a day. It could be a recent discovery or an old favourite, it could be music from a popular video game or something from A 60's Band That Released One Album and Amounted to Nothing. Whatever it is, it will be good in one way or another, I promise you!

Let's get started with our first track in this topic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzqDhOKqihM
Song: Seventeen
Artist: Birdeatsbaby
Album: Here She Comes a Tumblin'

Birdeatsbaby is an English band who performs in the genre of "Dark Cabaret". This is the big opening track to their first full album (well, there is an intro track too, but...).

If it's too much of a ballad for you, just wait until it hits 3 minutes in.

Other songs I reccomend from this album:
China Doll
The Trouble
Here She Comes a Tumblin'/Hymn

Feel free to comment.

The first three minutes of the song were OK, but after that it's pretty amazing.

I hope you continue to feed us interesting songs from obscure bands in the coming days!

Time for today's song!

Song: Underdog
Artist: Sly and the Family Stone
Album: A Whole New Thing

This is the first track of the band's first album, released 1967. The band itself is very, very 70's, though. This album was recorded live in the studio, unlike their other, overdubbed albums. It was released to minimal acclaim, unfortunately.

Right good song though, with interesting lyrics.

Nice music, and lyrics that remain relevant even today. Seems like I've heard them play that song at high school marching band competitions before.

You mean like genre requests? Because song requests defeat the purpose of this topic.

Song: Days Gone Bye
Artist: Mendelbaum
Album: Mendelbaum

A band from San Francisco, they released this self-titled album in 1970 and apparently not much else, although it was rereleased with a second CD of live recordings of other songs. One of the guitarists went on to join Van Morrison, and composed the Starsky and Hutch soundtrack. I highly recommend this album, great classic hard rock! The organ is really great.

There's a lot of goodness here, but if I could reccommend one other song, check out Since I Met Her.

Song: Eastern European Funk
Artist: InCulto
Album: Closer Than You Think

It's Eurovision season, so here's one of my favourite songs ever entered in the song contest. This was Lithuania's 2010 entry. Maybe you've heard it before, it's a minor meme.

Look, it's kind of cheezy, but the lyrics amuse me and the style is cool, and it's also very catchy.

I have two of their albums... It's good! I'm serious!

Another song which is greatpleasebelievemeI'mnotinsane is Keep On Dancing.

Oh yes - EuroMusic! A catchy dance song that's easy to listen to. I suspect acquiring those two albums wasn't easy!

Nice music, I gotta try some other genres to enjoy than pop music.
