Bibby: And you're right! Had to guess my way through a Lithuanian site to find them...
Goombario: Haha! Well, if you do want me to sing something, I suppose I can. :3
sspp03: Good! That's one of the points of this topic, to broaden musical horizons~

Song: Elle est Revenue
Artist: Les Sinners
Album: Sinerisme
A Quebecois group! Actually, the 60's were a big time for Quebec's rock scene, something you almost certainly wouldn't know. However, Les Sinners are not one of my 60's Rock Bands Who Went Nowhere simply because they DID go somewhere, they were quite popular and released 5 or so albums during their 10 year (sort of, it's complicated) lifespan.
You didn't hear about them before because they are Quebecois, though.
This album was released 1966. I'll go dig up more of their stuff, as they're new to me and it's hard to find their stuff on YouTube. Expect the next time I mention them to include a song uploaded by me. :3

Sounds a lot like the English-speaking bands of that era. I'd give a brownie to anyone who can find the lyrics - since I have an easier time comprehending (and translating) written French...

Song: Swint? Or Slude? Artist: Stolen Babies Album: There Be Squabbles Ahead A Californian avant-garde metal band, Stolen Babies started as a high school band called The Fratellis a relatively recent time ago. Their dark cabaret influences shine through a considerable amount, which answers the question I know you were dying to ask: Fujiko? A metal band? A recent metal band at that? Normally, modern metal is in my most hated of genres, but the interesting (and tuneful) songs, creative instrumentation, and the good singer/accordionist, Dominique Lenore Persi, make Stolen Babies something to watch for. This is one of a few instrumental tracks on their single album, although they are going to release another this year. I think this would be great BGM for a Creepy Carnival Level. By the way, they are heavily connected to the... extremely experimental band Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, which has about half of its members also in Charming Hostess, one of my favourite bands. Everything's connected, isn't it? The violin in this track was played by a Charming Hostess member. Found this band through a Nico Nico BGM mix, it included their song Filistata. Other tracks I recommend: -The Button Has Been Pushed (another lyricless song, though there is singing) -Filistata -Tablescrap I might do a full review sometime. |

I didn't post a song yesterday as I was quite busy, so here's yesterday's song and I'll post today's later.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVJFiXCYeoE Song: Perro Negro Artist: Cafe Tacvba, Lila Downs Album: Shake Away Mum was listening to music and this caught my attention. Interesting tune, talented singers! The title means "Black Dog". It's not about dogs, it's about politics. |

Swint: I'm not a big fan of newer heavy metal either, but that was interesting indeed. Reminds me of a certain Super NES video game villain...
Perro Negro: I enjoy a bit of Latin music every now and then, and this was another interesting song, even if the political innuendo sailed over my head. Do a polka song next time and you'll have three consecutive songs from radically different genres that all manage to employ accordions!

You want a polka? Okay.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toWYC-AZTBY My second favourite is The Alternative Polka. Now, for my actual song(s): EUROVISION ENTRIES http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PneOwzMz4M Song: Love Me Back Artist: Can Bonomo Country: Turkey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K8PB8eIy50 Song: L'Amore È Femmina (Out Of Love) Artist: Nina Zilli Country: Italy I legitimately like these two songs. Turkey's is just great fun, and I'm a sucker for that ethnic flavour, and as a wise Tumblr buddy said, Italy's was too well-done for the competition. They wound up in the top 10, at least! So, who won? Sweden, but who cares about them, their song was crap. Let's see who got second place! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKNRGc71hjc Song: Party For Everybody Artist: Buranovskiye Babushki Country: Russia They should have won. |

Thank you! And you are free to reccommend whatever to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCuJrJNAsqk Song: Mary Mac Artist: Great Big Sea Album: Up Ah, this band... I will never forgive my Grade 5 teacher for overplaying them. At least she didn't play this one, so the greatness of it stands without obstruction! Great Big Sea is a band from Newfoundland best known for being from Newfoundland, and that one cover they did of It's the End of the World As We Know It. Despite that description, they are pretty famous... And they made some songs that are both really annoying to me, and nostalgic. I can sing this song at full speed, by the way. I'm often praised for my motor mouth, haha. |

Mary Mac: I can't talk that fast. I can't sing that fast. I can't even speak English.

Hehehe.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcWkRMD3Ovc Song: Scherzo di Notte Artist: Yoko Shimomura Album: various Kingdom Hearts OSTs The Hollow Bastion area battle theme for every Kingdom Hearts game. One of my favourite songs in the wide field of video game music. I'm partial to the KHII version, because it's the first game I heard it in, and the Birth By Sleep version, because it is just awesome. The main Hollow Bastion theme is really good too, usually. |
