That cloudy level looks fun.

That level is going to be slightly long as it will have 4-5 rooms. Plus, I am going to say that World 5 doesnt really going to have levels on cloud platforms, but they are definiately high in the sky.

Earlier on in Jan 2013, I started showcasing some Mysterious Islandz levels with more original tilesets, but now, I am currently in the development of a plothole for World 4. Mario encounters abandoned, destroyed, and invaded settlements in World 4 inhabited there by the Toads who apparently settled there to get away from Bowser, but his forces discover them and had em killed. Mario has to figure out who did it and why it was done (it is this world that he will be aware of Bowser's presence in the island chain). The later levels of World 4 will be towards that direction, a darker, gorier, NSFW setting. You have been warned.

With that said: http://s20.postimage.org/d708n88bh/Sickening_Settlement.png

I wasn't kidding, at all that there will be a subplot. I wonder why no one said anything against Hello's use of blood in four of his games, so Im not expecting any. If any finds it too NSFW, then I am sorry and will make a more SFW version of a few levels.

If you're planning to steer the story down a darker, bloodier road, be careful, as it can look quite cheesy if it's not implemented perfectly. It's not going to be easy to show a darker side of Bowser and the Koopas in a game built around bright, cheerful SMB3 graphics.

Ill probably could fake a cutscene in GM. Hard to explain, but think of well, cutscenes in SMW hacks where you advance by pressing the up button. No, im not talking about the ones that show virtually no action, but rather the cutscenes show the action but well, doesnt show animations. More like you are reading a comic book than watching a picture show.

As I have planned, World 4 will reveal to the players about Bowser's presence on the island. Quite a few levels after World 4-6 will revolve around this plot. Ill show you more of these as things progress for me.

Oh wow, been a long while since I last updated this topic. Unfortunately, Im not going to post the NCFC demo here on the grounds of people complaining about its difficulty, and that im still making updates to the game as we speak.

Before you feast your eyes on these screens, I will love to say this rebuttal that to the people who complained about the difficulty on NCFC, their points were "half-valid", which means, yes, comparing the levels in sequence, there is a heavy imbalance of the curve and too much places where they can get hit. Other than that, it wasn't made for those who aren't experts of the Mario games and those who are unfamiliar with playing ROM-Hacks all the d*** time. I gave fair warning to those who would think that this game should be easy and Nintendo-y, and told in public the audience whom I am targeting, to deter those who would complain to high hell about the game's difficulty because the game wasn't made for them.

Now that's out of my system, here are a large sum of screenshots, some of them featured graphics done by me.

Man that's a lot of screenshots! I like the new look for the map screens, as well as the restyled SMW graphics in general.

Remember that people who play fangames are not necessarily the same ones who play ROM hacks. Moreover, a lot of people playing tough ROM hacks use save states, so if you go overboard with the difficulty levels in a GM game, some people will inevitably complain.

Understandably, I cannot stop people from whining and complaining about the difficulty, regardless of anything. But still, I intend to make this game challenging, while rebalancing the first world at the moment.

As for the people who may find a reason (a poor one, though) after I will be finishing the rebalancing the difficulty, they should take a moment and think to themselves "Is this game for me?" and compare it to what kinds of difficulty they should be finding in someone else's game that might more or less, can meet their expectations, instead of forcing their opinions down under the pretense of "game improvement" for the purpose of pressuring game creators to meet their demands, missing the point of not only criticism, game improvement, but missing the point of the target audience and focus that this game hope to achieve, let alone keep their opinions that I see sometimes on MFGG and other places. It will save me and those people the trouble of having to on my end, lose my audience that I intend to target by a purpose so different then my original purpose. On theirs, having to complain further about the game when I have nothing more to try help allay those... im at a loss of words. (if this comes at refusing criticism, I apologize, but that is not my intent with this rant. Its to express what I think about forcing opinions thinly disguised about criticism, lack of consideration to the fangame creator about whom he targets for which demo and psychographics he is targeting, and the dark side of criticism.)
