Gmail's finally disabled the old interface that I clung to for a few months after the initial rollout. Does anyone find the new look decidedly unattractive and unpolished? Even after disabling some of the new default settings like the graphical icons (I do know how to read, after all!) and the gulfs of blank space, the new look has far less contrast and simply isn't as appealing to me. Why do companies feel compelled to change things for the point of change? I don't see any tangible improvements (like faster speed) with the new look.
EDIT: Grammar fix.

I switched early to get rid of the annoyance of when it would eventually be forced anyway. I despise forced "upgrades," but there's really nothing anyone can really do about it.

It's the same thing with YouTube. Why aren't they listening to feedback?

Hmm? Ages ago, when GMail was loading, I clicked "load basic HTML for slow connections" and haven't had a problem with GMail upgrades since.
![]() The only downside is no "select all" on messages, which I suspect exists on the regular GMail. I also bypassed Yahoo's upgrades by switching to a sucky web browser, logging in and switching to Yahoo Mail classic. |
