If you'd like help spicing up the MIDIs as Oggs with better soundfonts, I might be able to assist. I can't make any guarantees, since my schedule is so much busier now, but my Christmas break is coming up soon, and I might be able to snag a bit of free time for messing with music.

I finished playing the NCFC demo earlier today (yes, I am behind the times!). The first levels aren't bad, but the later worlds are quite a bit more interesting and exciting - not to mention challenging. The glitch level was worth a laugh, of course, and dark forests are always fun. Some of the levels reminded me a bit of Psycho Waluigi - which isn't a bad thing.

I used up a bunch of lives in most of the levels, so it might be nice to reset the lives count back to 4 upon completion of each level. I often wound up with just one life after completing a tough level, and I had to reset the game whenever I wanted to get back to a full lives total. Because game overs would make you lose checkpoint progress, there would still be a need to conserve extra lives. Just an idea.

That's okay, I know how to use soundfonts myself; that's not the part that would be hard. The hard work would be reprogramming all the events involving playing/stopping music. That means every cutscene, every midboss, everything. It wouldn't really be hard, just time-consuming. But I've put it off long enough, I'll try doing it soon.
Also thanks! I'll consider adding that thing with the lives.

I've been playing the new version quite a bit over the past couple of days. It's been a lot of fun. I'm 64% complete, and I've collected 32 of the 56 info disks.

I noticed a couple of typos in the info disk descriptions. For #7, "instantaneously" is misspelled, and #14 has a comma splice (to fix it, add a dash or a semicolon after the word "confused"). Aside from these two beefs, the game text is very well-written - usually when I play through other people's games, I find lots of errors.

As for a more serious problem, the game sometimes crashes when I pause the game while in the main hub area. When I pause, the pause menu appears, but I can still control Toad, and the background changes to a giant tileset. When this happens, I have to go into Task Manager to close the game (Esc and even Alt-F4 fail to have any effect), and I usually have to replay the last level I completed.

Also, how do you get past the room with the rising lava in Hot Cold Area? I get to the top of the room, change the lava into water, and float downwards, but there's an icy wall impeding my progress, and soon the water changes back to lava, and Toad becomes toast.

when trying to run the game on my computer, i get this error message:

given that it seems to work for bibby, i'm assuming that i'm missing some sort of file. i'm running this outside of the archive it came in, so i don't think it's that. anyone got any idea what i'm doing wrong?

That's strange, I've never encountered that. I'll look into it.
EDIT: I can't seem to replicate it. How often has this happened?
