What happened to when loading bars actually indicated progress, and weren't just there to humor us?
██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ ██████████ 100%. Finished loading. No bologna. Sometimes it did hang here for an extra second or two, but at least we had an idea of how long our software took to load. Things like this:  and this:  are an abomination.

Yeah, really. Even a percentage counter would be nice.

For the circular ones, I think they should look something like this.
 A very ugly mockup because I have no art skills. But the green would fill over the red instead of going around and around indefinitely. I also hate horizontal loading bars that load over and over again. |
