The original Cheerwine Deluxe was released in early 2011.
A preview of the training level, minus the animated clouds. The resized hills backgrounds from Yoshi's Island look significantly less bad than I was expecting. ![]()

Yesterday I uploaded a new version of CD3, downloadable in the original post, after someone wanted to see my F-1 engine. There's not a lot of new stuff, but you might want to check it out if you haven't played it yet.

Hey folks. What jumping-impairing enemy would be a good substitute for Micro-Goombas? What object could make a piece of Feminist Performance Art explode in the museum level? Are there any good high-resolution tilesets for an ice world or a house? These questions are essential to the advancement of humanity (also known as "making new levels in Cheerwine Deluxe 3"), so let me know if any of you come up with ideas!

Miles: I like that idea very much. I edited the photo of Mitt Romney that appears in Hablo! and applied some goofy effects to it in Paint.NET.
I've made some positive steps on this project in the past few days, fixing assorted glitches (like the one that made some of the dialogue screens display improperly), tinkering with Yoshi's mechanics, and adding new content. I also made it so that Yoshi gains weight when he eats the biscuits in the KFC level. This inability to convert said fast-food goodie to egg format impairs Yoshi's jumping and running abilities. Also, I'm sure I could find one myself, but does anyone possess any over-the-top explosion effects?

I've been working very hard at procrastinating on Cheerwine Deluxe 3. I have almost a full month with no classes, but so far I've been spending my time working on everything except game development. Perhaps I'll be able to shake the Motivation Tree later this week, though.
As for pointless rambling on development choices, I was planning to use a remix of Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" for the first full level, because I was seeking a sound that's cool, smooth, and subtly rebellious. Apparently this song was recycled as a feminist anthem last year, though, so I'll probably end up dropping the political-based enemies I was planning to use in that level. The Cheerwine Deluxe series is an equal opportunity employer when it comes to parody, after all, and I don't want to give the impression that I'm praising or mocking any particular viewpoint (especially since this level comes so early in the game).

Well, it's still good to see that you're still sort of working on this!

Believe it or not, Cheerwine Deluxe 3 is still a thing! I've barely touched this project since 2013, but in the past two weeks I've made more progress on the game than I've made in many moons. Most of the fundamental things are done now, so now I can focus on designing levels and bosses. Here's a summary of what I've been doing lately:
It's still a weird feeling to work on something that has lain dormant for so long.
