This is looking pretty neat. While the slide speed is more natural now, Mario's maximum top speed is too fast. Also, the falling bricks on the ceilings in 1-3 are irritating; I'd suggest adding a small crack or something so you can distinguish them from regular blocks.

Also, I beat the first world in both Easy Mode and Hard Mode while losing just a single life.

The secret? Go fast. For example, if you keep running, you can defeat the lions (whose name escapes me) before they shoot any fireballs. This trick can be exploited in many GM games - that's why I usually randomize any alarms in the Create event when I make games.

The name of the fire-spittin' lions is GAO.

EDIT: I have king totometsu programmed, I only need the boss theme for it.
