I think we should spend a little more time in planning. I am unsure if we should put their safety at risk yet - for we do not yet know if this Googlebot is hostile towards smaller animals.

Well, that solves the time travel part of this adventure. That was quick!

But, the evil Googlebot spy is another matter entirely. This scientific breakthrough from 2008 could prove useful for catching the thing, since we seem to have a mysterious record of each year it's been meddling with; now we just need someone to build something out of that knowledge.

Do not bother to investigate the origin, purpose, or actions of a Googlebot. They are completely harmless.

Aha. An important revelation. Perhaps this explains why the Googlebot is always checking the calendar for random years like 1990 and 2032. This may be a very important clue in our exhaustive search for truth.

1990 is my birth year.

2032 might be my death year.

Does that mean... that the Googlebot is plotting to assassinate Mason or prevent his birth?
