I had nearly forgotten that this movie had even existed. I have just one thing to say. Just one.

I so want one of those.
Also, I really need to watch that movie all the way through someday.

I'm trying to imagine how the movie would have worked if they had a similar idea, same budget and didn't try to name it after Mario. Without the names and overalls (and maybe the bobomb) I don't think anyone would have been able to tell. Even the Yoshi could have stayed if the name was changed.

I bought it on DVD a few years ago (I was surprised it even got released on DVD!), it's one of my favorite movies.

I bought it for myself around Christmas last year. (My parents took it until Christmas.) I watched it a little over halfway through. It's actually not as bad as I remember it.
It's got almost nothing to do with the Mario storyline; in fact they kinda make that clear in the beginning. I guess it's an interesting movie now that I see it for what it is. |

While I've always been aware the SMB movie has little to do with the Mario series, I'd never really thought of what it would've been like if they'd scrapped the Mario references entirely. I suspect the movie would've fared at least marginally better.
