After a year of downtime, the Bibby Team Forums are back - and better than ever!

The original JaxBoards platform served us very well for over 13 years, and I'm extremely grateful to Sean for all his years of support. However, the original JaxBoards setup started to become increasingly unstable in 2023. In January 2024, the original JaxBoards installation crashed so hard that it wasn't feasible to get it going again.

I thought about relaunching the BT Forums with different software (like SMF, MyBB, or phpBB), but I wasn't in love with current open-source forum offerings, and I always felt that running on JaxBoards was part of the identity of the BT Forums. I bought a Bibby Team domain name, set up a new server with up-to-date infrastructure, made a few tweaks to JaxBoards to get it to handle PHP 8.3, and was pleasantly surprised to find that JaxBoards could run just fine under modern architecture!

My most recent backup of the original BT Forums dates back to November 12, 2023. I was able to restore all posts, topics, messages, shoutbox posts, and themes, except for nine posts and one PM that other members made between November 12 and January 2024. I manually restored any posts I made during that period, since I keep an offline backup of stuff I write online (the renowned Posts 2023.TXT file that I occasionally mention). You might notice a handful of topics seem to have gaps in them, but I don't think anything truly earth-shaking was lost - nine posts isn't a lot.

Since the JaxBoards software is running on a new server with new architecture and a new configuration, you might notice an occasional crash or bug. If that happens, refreshing your page might fix the issue. If it doesn't, shoot me a message and then try again in a few minutes. I'll continue making bug fixes and other improvements in the coming weeks.

I hope you enjoy using the BT Forums in our new home! While Internet forums aren't exactly trendy, we hope you find this to be a nice change of pace from the algorithmic timelines, the clickbait headlines, and the "influencers" who dominate social media. I think you'll find this to be a calm, civil, and constructive environment to hang out and share things you find interesting.
