I took a photo of the box of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and it got uploaded to Google Photos.

Apparently Google Photos detected that there was a lot of text in this image, and it offered to convert it for me. Here's what I got:



I'm kind of impressed that Google could pick up most of the text on the page. I'm also impressed that the Google Photos search feature has gotten as good as it has.

This sort of technology has come leaps and bounds since I was a kid. Seemed so impossible back then.

@DustinVG Indeed! I remember when I first used OCR software. It seemed amazing back then, but it wasn't that reliable even when scanning Courier New text from plain white paper. We've come a long way.
