like i told you last night, this is definitely the sort of thing i'd want to do with a sodastream if i had one. i used to make soda syrup by mixing kool aid with a small amount of water and a large amount of sugar, and i bet i could get up to that kind of nefarious mischief again with one of these

Finally fizzed up straight booze... some whiskey in this case...
I do not suggest this... the result is quite overpowering...never again... |

Heh heh... that sounds very potent indeed. "Fizzy booze" would be worth a lot of points in Scrabble if it was possible, though!

So, tried mixing a Lemonade, and Limeade recipe together, then adding some fizz to that... Well, it doesn't taste like sprite. Actually closer to squirt, despite lacking grapefruit. It's weird.

It's been a bit since I last posted in this thread. That welding tank is still holding strong. I suspect that I might need to get it filled before long, what with how much seltzer I drink.
I have one final upgrade I'm working toward, and this one is a doozy. https://www.amazon.com/Coke-Classic-Soda-Syrup-Gallon/dp/B00HE42V8Y (I'm also looking at store brands as well. Those could easily be cheaper) I've done enough research to know that I can use this now. The mix ratio is 5-1. If I've done my math right, then I would mix just under 1-cup for a 1-liter bottle. I plan to get 3 boxes. 2.5 gallons of each ought to last me awhile. And just some basic flavors. Cola, Root Beer, and either Lemon-lime or Orange. 170.344 liters, or 45 GALLONS of soda collectively, once mixed. I shouldn't need to buy soda for a good long while. This will be expensive to get, but in the long run, this should also be the least expensive way to get these sodas. As a side, since these are mostly sugar, and by trait of the box it is stored in: blocked off from outside light, it should be safe to store them on the countertop for several months (ignoring the obligatory expiration date) --- Edited by: The_Shadow, Mar 12th, 2021 @ 10:38 pm |

![]() Slight change in plan. While these are 5-gallons instead of 2.5, they are also far cheaper. This means that each box will make 30 gallons, rather than 15. (Geeze! 90 GALLONS of soda! I'll be dead before we drink all that!) Some mod work will be required for the adapter. this is simple though. all I need to do is swap the Coke machine adapter for a standard pitcher tap... Doesn't get much easier than that. I've already worked out the mix ratio, and marked my sodastream bottles accordingly. From that it's just 3/4 cup of syrup to marked amount of carbonated water complete the 5-1 ratio to make a soda. From this, I just need funds... that should happen soon enough. --- Edited by: The_Shadow, Mar 13th, 2021 @ 7:04 pm |

Oh yes. that's going to last me months. maybe longer.
But the important thing here is the overall cost. I've done the math, (And by that, I mean that I googled a unit calculator and made IT do the math for me) Going from largest unit size calculable to smallest available normally. $1.40 per gallon. (Determined from the fact the 5 gallon boxes make 30 gallons) $0.37 per liter. (This is the unit size we will be using, as that's what the sodastream uses.) $0.13 per 12oz can. (Standard can capacity.) The numbers seem to work out overall. this is far cheaper than what we normally pay for soda. --- Edited by: The_Shadow, Mar 14th, 2021 @ 12:21 am |
