Sounds groovy - it's been ages since I've had an ice cream float!

Come on gang, let's go to the Nite Malt Shop.

I love it!

With all this however, I think this about concludes what I can do with this thing.
I might go into further detail with the research I've done, and even drop some links.

If you know someone who loves soda, this should make an excellent gift. And if the sodastream brand syrups don't taste good, it's simple to use fountain syrups.
And if you know where to look, it even proves to be really cheap.

Quick update: the bag-in-box syrups, despite how the site I got them from advertised them, are NOT the same as the 1-gallon jugs.

They aren't bad... but I am a bit disappointed that they taste so much different.

Mix ratio is the same.

After some time, most my family agrees that these Bag in Box syrups are excellent.
This project will continue for a good while.

After a little debate, we've decided the plastic bottles that are usable with the sodastream are getting abused far more than the tipical user would. and have decided to replace two of the three more than 3 years before the expiration date on the bottle. currently researching adapting glass bottles to the sodastream.

@Nite Nice! And yeah, a bottle upgrade might be sensible, considering you're using these more than the average person would.

I assume you'd prefer glass over metal.

Glass is a definite, however only specific sodastreams are compatible with those. Mine is not. However, adapters exist in a number of places to adapt regular soda bottles to be used. Using a glass sodastream bottle in my unit isn't a far stretch from reality. just currently beyond my capability... Perhaps some day.

Also: Now that you mention it... metal might not be a bad idea either... just can't see through it to know how much you are putting in.

A word of warning:
Like many things, there is a large deal of counterfeit glass bottles on ebay.
While they may work for some things still, some of these arent made well, and will rupture under pressure. (And yes, even the pressure from soda can be too much!)
And when they rupture, they can send glass shrapnel everywhere. I'm lucky to have only had a mess of broken glass to clean up.
Take my advice: do plenty of research, and make sure what you are getting is safe. Counterfeits like this could cost you your life.

Yikes... that sounds scary indeed! I'm glad you were all right. Seems you need to be really careful when shopping for bottles for this thing.
