About a week ago, my laptop started giving me random BSODs. Then it decided it didn't want to boot anymore, and it would spend a full day on CHKDSK before I pulled the plug on this fruitless endeavor.
Looks like my hard disk is toast - the first time a hard disk has been the cause of death for one of my PCs. All super-important stuff is backed up (including my good friend Note.TXT), but some less important stuff isn't backed up.
I'll still be checking this place (and maybe a few others if I'm lucky), but for the near future I won't be very active in the online world - my main focus will be backing up what I can and looking for a new laptop.
Please don't set anything on fire while I'm away.

Not fun. I had some serious technical issues with my main PC recently myself, and had to get it replaced.
But, the laptop I got is a lot more powerful than the desktop I was replacing with it. My best advise is to think it over a bit, look at your options, and find the best one for you. Here, why don't you come warm up by the fire. ![]() |

I was getting worried after not hearing from you for a while! Sadly, laptops and hard drive oopsies are a common combination.
