They came... in fact, they came right here to Jacksonville, Florida! Not only did I get a chance to watch both the men's and women's curling playoffs this week, I even got a chance to toss a couple of curling stones myself! Even though I curled on a practice rink (40 feet instead of the regulation 150 feet), I really began to appreciate the amount of precision needed to become an Olympic-level curler. It's hard to keep the stone from going out the back of the "house" (the target-shaped circle), much less to hit shots with pinpoint accuracy.
Also, here's the original 2014 curling topic. I failed to score an autograph, although doing actual curling was plenty fun anyway.
The moral of the story? If you ever get a chance to watch live curling, do so. It's fun stuff.
