Here are the pictures of that repair I was talking about in the shoutbox.

Of course, I have to start with the outside, since this thing is already fully assembled.
The blue switch is the new power switch.
Current switch position is OFF.


And ON, to show that this indeed does work.


And of course, gotta show the inside of this thing.
on the right of the board, you can see how I did this.
two wires soldered to the circuit board where the old power switch used to be.
those wires were merely jumped, and soldered, to the new power switch. the only case modification was that I had to cut the mounting bolts from the original power switch off of the inside of the casing for the switch to fit properly.

Pretty simple really.
and this switch is not likely to fly off into the four flipping winds on me.

Thanks! :)

On another note: This isn't far off from fixing a common problem with an SNES's DC input jack.
I'm confident that if I have to deal with that at any point, that it won't be any problem for me to perform the needed procedure.
