The latest Windows is "officially" out tomorrow. Who's planning to try it? It's a free upgrade if you're running Windows 7 or 8.1, which is pretty sweet.
I briefly tried the preview version last month, and it seemed all right. I'm hopeful that the upgrade isn't going to break anything important, so I'm planning to install it tomorrow. I think it's already downloaded on my PC, in fact.

finally got it to work. i'm pretty sure xbox was already integrated into windows 8, but i'm really looking forward to being able to stream xbone games to my PC.
i'm also really, really happy that MIDI still works natively, and i'm really happy it uses the microsoft wavetable synth they've been using for years and years.

Friendly Dictator So what can be superior when compared with paying out half the price for brand name children? wow, if brand name children are on sale, maybe i can stop buying all these cheap knockoff children Bibby OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words. |

Yeah, I was relieved to see that Windows 10 still supports MIDI playback natively. After upgrading, Windows 10 seems to be using the default playback synth instead of the special soundfont driver I installed, but I'm sure there's a way to fix that. I just haven't taken the time to try that yet.
Also, just in case anyone has the same problem: If Windows 10 seems to be slowing down at startup and shutdown, or if certain applications are loading slowly, open Task Manager and see if disk activity is high. If so, open Services and disable Superfetch. It's amazing just how big a performance improvement you'll see. Superfetch is supposed to speed up the Windows experience, but on some systems, it has the opposite effect. Once I noped Superfetch, my main Windows 10 complaint disappeared. --- Edited by: Bibby, Aug 10th, 2015 @ 4:48 pm

Since I have an SSD I don't have any slowdown problems. Actually, it hibernates and shut downs faster! Also that soundfont driver sounds really interesting. I gotta try it as soon as I can. |

I have an SSD, too. The problem is that my SSD driver apparently doesn't get along with my computer, especially on Windows 10.
