So, here is something that has driven me nuts for the last few months, when they enacted some new policies.
Apparently, paying for shipping means that they pay to have an oversize package delivered to the person's house (I can understand this)
If the person is more that 1/4 mile away from the main highway, they cannot deliver it to their house. (Okay... I can at least accept that)
They MUST carry oversized packages with them, and cannot leave them at the post office.
The person who might receive such packages cannot request to leave them in the post office, even if the above conditions exist.
The postal carrier must leave a card notifying the recipient of a large item in their box. (I can understand this)
Unclaimed packages will be sent back to the sender after 15 days (Seems reasonable)
The person who might have a package must have one of these cards to receive their package (If the postal carrier fails to place one in your box for 15 days in a row [which has happened to me], you are thoroughly screwed)
The postal carrier is not responsible for your failure to collect your item (AAAAARGH!)
You cannot pick up an undeliverable package before 3:30PM
You cannot pick up an undeliverable package after 4:00PM
And asking them about why this is doesn't get you anywhere...to do so is to envoke the wrath of Sithis. they don't know either.
And for the one person who actually does their job (And I thank you kind sir) there are several other who do not.
And for the love of god STOP SLAMMING MY PACKAGES ON THE DESK!
So, yeah, this is why I decided to buy an oversized mailbox..

Yeah, that would be frustrating indeed. I understand that delivering packages in a rural area would be challenging, but some of these practices are just plain stupid. In particular, slamming packages around is a great way to damage the contents therein, and having a 30-minute window to pick up your packages would be tricky for a lot of people.
Course clear! You got a card.

Oh tell me about it.
I've had packages destroyed by them doing that. And been there to witness them do it.. They also do not take responsibility for package contents being damaged, despite it happening right in front of you, and the several people behind you. Needless to say, I had been nothing short of endlessly frustrated with the policies they had to begin with, and I'm ready to put my foot down. Unfortunately, legally, the only thing that I can do is get a larger mailbox so that I can receive larger packages, and not order any fragile items. So, I did. I just gotta hope that they give me a card notice in my mailbox that my new mailbox has arrived so that I can get it before the 15 days it takes before they send it back to the sender. Then I can get this bad-boy set up to receive mail, and save me a lot of needing to go to the post office within a 30 minute window to receive a package and possibly have it destroyed in front of me. Thankfully, I don't quite see them destroying a piece of galvanized steel by slamming it down on their desk though. Either this, or drop them entirely. Which unfortunately can't happen, since that would mean that I could not receive mail at all. |
