hey mck

it surprises me that mw is that inactive. i'd assume that a forum like this would get a lot less traffic than minus world
Find my music here!!

Friendly Dictator

So what can be superior when compared with paying out half the price for brand name children?

wow, if brand name children are on sale, maybe i can stop buying all these cheap knockoff children

OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words.

Well after looking at this place for a bit I think maybe most of the traffic is in the chatbox, with very little happening in the forum.

MW has less people active at any given time but have more activity... apparently.

Yeah, we're still a thing! We're not super-duper active, but we still have fun folks who do fun stuff. It's nice to see you here again.

I think the biggest problem MW had is that the members of the community were never quite sure what they wanted to be, and since they never had a clear mission, it was hard to attract new people - especially since "general hangout" forums are less popular than they were 5-10 years ago.

I've been busy with my final year of college lately, but I still try to find time to check in on occasion.

Yeah. I've been saying it for a while, MW was built backwards as a community first that attempted to retroactively fit a focus. That doesn't work out.

So what's the focus of BT?

Right now, the main thing I do with this forum is to post early demos of games and to post lighthearted topics that don't have a place on MFGG. I guess that's not a very specific focus, but MW ran into problems when people were arguing over which specific focus to pursue (video games, indie development, general hangout). Around here, people have usually gotten along well, and we've never had an ongoing existential feud.

Some ideas for this forum didn't pan out - the local news forum was a short-lived experiment, and the mainsite concept is something else that hasn't gotten off the ground, at least not yet. We used to get a lot of visitors from other JaxBoards, but the other JaxBoards forums have pretty much faded away. It's kind of special to be the only active forum running the software, though.

While this place isn't as active as it was before MFGG brought back the GC, there's still a decent amount of activity. Some old topics attract a considerable amount of interest, too - Nite's post about NES soundfonts gets nearly 600 impressions and 50 hits per month, and it's on the first page of Google search hits for a popular topic, which is pretty good.

I think what it boils down to is we still use this forum to post stuff that might not have a place anywhere else. Also, cookies and tomatoes. :cookie: :tomato:
