Oh, the ever-so-common practice of watching your friends or people you like play video games and providing commentary to the person playing the game, which is called "backseat gaming" in the gaming community, similar to how one sits in the passenger seats and tells the driver what maneuvers he should make...often times, labeling you as annoying.

Have you ever backseat gamed before, and have you been on the receiving end of people criticizing you for it?

Yeah, I'm guilty of doing this to my friend when he's playing Battlefield. "At that range you should hipfire" or "that's the wrong gun for the situations you keep running into on this map, especially after that September patch" and especially often "no, that death was fair [because (reason)]" - I'm probably pretty annoying. The most I get as far as criticism for doing it is angry reactions, at which point I stop.

Yes, I've been both the perpetrator and the victim of Backseat Gaming before. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes it's just annoying.

Also, that was a very diabolical post from Miles, considering that it upped his post count to triple sixes.
Course clear! You got a card.

Generally, people are just too much in awe of my showing off to actually try to give me any pointers.
Happens on occasion though, sometimes useful, sometimes not.

OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words.

Well, if he gets annoyed for the slightest provocation, then that's his problem. But then again, if he is reasonable, I wouldn't blame your friend getting angry at you because you could have robbed his own agent of his own cathartic release.

If you are the kind of coach who shouts all kinds of orders to your pupils, then yes. Though Backseat Gaming is not bad in itself, know when to give tips (if they are legitimately stuck in an area or if they ask for tips).

It depends on the game, like when I'm screwing around in Watch Dogs or GTA it's just an extra bit of funnies, but when I'm really engaged it can be very annoying / distracting. It's worst when you try to beat a boss, lose, and someone makes a snide comment at your expense.

Also I HATE when people tell me how to complete puzzles / beat bosses because wtf dude now I'm never going to experience finding that out for myself you just ruined the game for me please don't talk to me again.

And on that day, mankind received a grim reminder...
