well, i've been working on my mario fangame to try to get it done in time for ncfc 2014. i sent bibby a prototype of the game, and he encountered this bug in the second stage where mario couldn't enter a pipe at the very end of the stage. specifically, it is the one directly to the right of mario in this image:

i reckon that, given this, i either messed up the programming of the pipe somehow in a way that renders it inoperable, or there's a bug that doesn't happen on my computer which prevents mario from entering that pipe there. if i were to upload a prototype to my box account, could someone else try this level and see if that pipe works correctly? if you don't want to play through the first level of the game, you can go to the file menu, select "password", and enter the letters "dfgfg" without quotation marks to skip to level 1-2 immediately. the way i coded it is that you have to stop, let go of the movement key, and then press towards the pipe to enter it, but i'm not sure that was a good way for me to code that

(p.s.: you can play through the entirety of levels 1-1 and 1-2, but i messed up the entry point for level 1-3, so you start at the end of that stage. you can exit that level, but the next level hadn't been started when i made this executable)

So what can be superior when compared with paying out half the price for brand name children?

wow, if brand name children are on sale, maybe i can stop buying all these cheap knockoff children

OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words.

Pipe works for me.

I had one instance where I fell to my death in 1-1 and it didn't restart the level, but I tried to reproduce the issue and it never happened again.

I also had one instance where I jumped and took off at around 2.5x speed to the right. No idea how I did it. Started 1-3, smooshed a Goomba, jumped again normally, then when I went to jump again I went flying to the right for about a tenth of a second. Couldn't get it to happen again.

well, that's good to know that it works for you. i'm not sure this will make a difference, but what os are you using, miles?

also, i knew about the level not restarting when you fall into a pit for level 1-1, but i hadn't fixed it by the time i got this demo up. i forget why this happens, but i can reproduce it consistently, so i think i'll have that fixed by the time that ncfc happens

I played the new NCFC version today, and "Start Me Up" is the perfect choice for the title screen of a game about Windows 95!

The double jump feature didn't work consistently. Also, I kept getting stuck after exiting the Switch Palace:

well i suppose that's what i get for releasing a demo of a game without testing it, huh? fgfdgdf

i'm still in the middle of a five-day run at work, so earliest i'll be able to fix this is by the weekend.
