anyone have any experience working jobs like this? i work in a grocery store, and i don't like having to treat my customers like they're always right even if they're clearly wrong. i b****ed a little about it in my ebay topic, so i guess i'd like to hear if anyone else has had as much trouble with it as i have

I've never had a customer service job before. My grandmother was a retail sales associate about a decade ago, and she'd often talk about her experiences dealing with "interesting" customers. The same goes for other people I know who have done computer support, waitressing, or other jobs where you deal with the general public. In those situations, you'll always encounter some customers who are uninformed, impatient, or just plain stupid.
Course clear! You got a card.

Sometimes you just find that certain someone.
You can't help them to save your life. One can fix anything, but they still cannot fix stupid. |

there was this one time i had a customer ask me if my produce was from china, because that's supposedly where all the infected and bad produce comes from. i told her no; she said "are you sure?" i then explained to her that it's way more trouble than it's worth to do something like that, and she's like "what?" i'm not sure if she didn't understand what i was talking about or if she just couldn't hear me, but i suspect it was the former. i just told her no, our produce isn't from china, and that's the bottom line cos stone cold said so.
okay, i didn't say the part about stone cold, but the whole thing broke what little faith i had in the intelligence of my customers
