I've been attempting to keep tabs on that there Hurricane Arthur that's gonna roll through real shortly, and on many of the news sites talking about it there were bits about people refusing to cut their vacations around the Outer Banks and other beachy areas short.
If you're going to voluntarily put yourself right in a potential "thick of it" zone for any reason that's not work- or possibly family-related, you might be a grade A moron. I don't care if you think you're going to be safe and then it turns out you were right; you risked yourself and/or your family. If anything happens to you, you asked for it, plain and simple.
Don't think I'm saying I don't feel bad for anyone who gets got or loses their stuff in a storm, because I'm not. I'm just saying. Don't put your stupid hat on.

Yeah, taking a vacation to a hurricane zone isn't the brightest idea. At least Arthur won't be bugging me down in Florida, although that's not so much fun for you North Carolina-ites, who tend to get the worst of tropical weather.
Course clear! You got a card.

we went on a vacation to myrtle beach when i was maybe 7, which i think is in south carolina. the second to last day, hurricane weather started to come in, and what did we do? get the beep out of there, that's what
i've heard people have hurricane parties when they know a hurricane is coming, which has always baffled me. why get blotto, looped, trashed, and blasted when you know there's an ungodly powerful force of nature coming through that'd probably like to rip you a new one?

Friendly Dictator So what can be superior when compared with paying out half the price for brand name children? wow, if brand name children are on sale, maybe i can stop buying all these cheap knockoff children Bibby OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words. |

It is the same reason folks drink and drive, stay out late partying when they have work the next day, or have unprotected sex. So many people believe consequences are for others and not for them. I can understand planning a vacation playing the odds that a big storm isn't likely. However, if that storm comes the correct response is the same as FB3K's family's which was, get the hell out of dodge. |

In all honesty, if people do stupid things by going into areas where there is a clear and present risk of dying from Acts of God (like that Hurricane Arthur for example) when they are forewarned not to risk themselves into going to those areas just for a cheap thrill aren't worthy of sympathy because they only have themselves to blame if they do go into those areas. Though I will feel sorry for their families who will have to go through any unneeded grief when using your better judgment can avoid potential tragedies.
