I can't remember making a topic for this game, so here you go.
Demo 4 is released! Download link is later in this post.

Here are all the versions:

Version 0.1 (world 1)
Version 0.1.3 (up to 2-2)
Version 0.2 (worlds 1+2)
Version 0.3 (up to world 3)
Version 0.4 (up to world 4)
Music Pack (only works with demo 4 and higher, place this in the game folder for the full experience)

Obviously, it sounds better than MIDIs, so I guess you want to know why I didn't use OGGs. I'm using the GM built-in save system (it might not be the best, but it's convenient, I might change it later though) and for some reason, both sinBass and SuperSound don't work well with it. I really wanted Benjamin's music to be in there (he made the music for this only) so I put the WAVs in the game.

Hmm. Have you tried converting them to MP3s? What kind of problems are you having with the Oggs? The built-in GM save system is pretty glitchy, so I would recommend changing it.

MP3s are about the same size as WAVs, right? So what's the point in converting them? I might be wrong, though.

MP3s are tiny compared to WAVs - usually they're less than 10% of the size of a WAV.

I need you guys' opinion. Which of the following powerups should be in demo 5?


Dash mushroom: mario is faster than ever before! The run speed is significally increased and thanks to a dash ability, you can easily get to that maximum speed! It's Sonic's speed, but in a Mario game!


Wrecking mushroom: Mario becomes his good old Wrecking Crew version. The ability is undecided, though


Beam flower: Mario gets the ability to shoot beams like in Kirby Super Star Ultra! Charge for a powerful beam attack that can penetrate enemies. The Beam Whip isn't there, though


Please vote by posting in this thread (cause the poll system is messed up) and of course, powerup ideas you came with yourself are also very welcome!

Why don't you have the beam whip? Is it because you couldn't figure out how to make it? It wouldn't be too hard, just do it the same way you would a firebar: have a variable for the angle of the beam which goes down, and use lengthdir_x() and lengthdir_y() to set the positions of the beam segments.

Thanks for voting! I know how to code the whip, but I think the powerup would be too OP if it included the whip. I'm gonna add it for testing purposes anyway, and if it's not too OP, it's gonna be in the game!
