That's really cool. I wouldn't mind snagging one of those myself someday!

I think that you would love one of these puppies,
The sound quality on these simply has not been properly emulated, even the official Sega ports of classic genesis games has yet to reproduce the sound quality that you get from these.

At any rate, between this,

and my brothers birthday present,

I've just blown over half of my bank account.
This shopping spree ends quickly.

Wow! I'd like to have one of those! I found a certain Sega Genesis model (I don't think it was that one though) at a thrift store once with a controller and a couple games, but no ac adapter and no tv plug in :(

I've never even owned a Sega console, I've only gotten to play Sega games through Wii Virtual Console or Sega Genesis Classics on PS3.
... really? That's what you call Guile?

my friend chris has a sega genesis model 1. i'm not sure where he found it, but he's had it for several years now

we used to play things like eternal champions and nba jam on it, and since i'd usually have a pair of earphones on me, i'd listen to the audio through the headphone out jack. i wish more consoles had something like that.
Find my music here!!

Friendly Dictator

So what can be superior when compared with paying out half the price for brand name children?

wow, if brand name children are on sale, maybe i can stop buying all these cheap knockoff children

OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words.

A lot of research went in to finding this specific type, after narrowing it down to one telltale sign that it has the specific hardware that I'm after. (In this case, the Yamaha YM2612 FM Synth Chip, and the Sony CXA1145 Video Encoder Chip, which is on all possibilities for what I just got..)

The motherboard revisions that this can possibly be are "VA2, VA3, VA4, VA5, or VA6.

I would be happy with any of those.

The VA2 motherboard has the best audio balance, however it apparently has problems with loud sounds, causing it to crackle out when something gets too loud.
The VA3, VA4, VA5, and VA6 all have this corrected, all having less distortion on loud noises, and better bass output.

I actually stand a 4 in 5 chance at getting a model that does not display the Sega copyright at boot-up as well.
VA2, VA3, VA4, and VA5 do not display this,
The VA6 does.
I honestly don't care about this factor.

The Sony CXA1145 video chip also has the best video output of all the Sega genesis units available, this shows when it comes to the Rainbow banding effect with 1PX width graphics placed closely together. (Such as the waterfalls in Sonic the Hedgehog)

All this was narrowed down to the label of "High Definition Graphics" on the console.
You get one of those, you get the best that Sega had to offer with this console.

Exactly which one I get however, will be determined when it actually arrives.

Awesome on many levels. You're gonna love that thing for sure. Just be careful not to have whatever you plug into that headphone jack up too high; the slider on the Genesis itself should probably set around 5 if you ever plan to use some standard headphones. The volume coming from that jack is pretty intense on the highest setting.

Also nice knife.

"yet to" - But this ever actually happening is not really likely.

Thanks for the heads up, I plan to hook this bad-boy to a 120Watt amplifier.

Thanks. Think my brother will like it?

Sadly, this is likely true.

I think I have one of these models, but it's missing the power cord. :(

Congrats on getting one yourself, mate.

Well this console got shipped out this morning, and I should have it in 4-5 days.

Wish I could say the same about the knife though,
Apparently there was a miscalculation in the availability of the item, so they refunded me what I spent....With an E-check (Whatever that is)....that doesn't clear till next week.....
