Donald Sterling's racist soliloquy

Do the players and Doc have an obligation to take a position?

This guy is now a cancer for the league. I wonder if is says anything about the reach of the league in that most sport's outlets this morning didn't have a peak of this on their sites. Huffington Post had a link to TZM.

Sterling is an awful human and needs to die... I hope their ticket sales die and I would like to see Magic's Dodgers do a Clipper ticket exchange.

Normally I'd say that comments along the lines of "this guy should just go die" aren't very nice. But I'd also have to say that this Sterling guy sounds profoundly not-nice. If this alleged audio is legit, Sterling's racist statements are seriously disturbing.

I watched the video, and it sounds more like his relationship with his GF is on the rocks. Sure that there are a lot of racist undertones in the video, but I cant help but feel judgemental to the Clippers owner because it sounds like he either is or wants to control his girlfriend's activies with whom she socializes with and wants her to conform to his almost unreasonable standards he has for her: http://www.tmz.com/videos/0_wkuhmkt8/. Its...very judgmental and disempowering to the girl. IMO, he shouldnt really control his GF's activities. Let her do as she pleases, even if it means affecting him with her social activities with minorities, after all, why bother about what she does in public or private. I do not really care if he is a racist in this case despite me being against racism, but I do care if he is an abuser which IMO, much worse than being a racist, though I cant really blame the public labeling him as such and I wont feel very sorry for his eventual downfall.

Comments in there are calling her a "gold digger".

I wonder why the Clippers are downplaying this, and does it give you a new perspective on this issue?

In my opinion there is rarely something called a gold-digger. It is a quid pro quo at best. Yes, she is with a man that is rich, on the other hand wealth allots him the pleasure of her company. He is getting younger and more attractive companionship because of wealth.

SO, in both cases they get something.

Word is that Adam Silver is going nuclear on Sterling today, as he should.

If I'm the Clippers players I sit out until he agrees to sell the team. If I have tickets I'm not going to the game. Let the sponsors, fans, and players all leave him and leave him with an empty franchise worth far below market value.

Part of me wishes this had happened during the regular season where it'd be a lot easier for players to refuse to skip games.

Part of me also wishes Stern were still around to see how he'd handle it, but of course he didn't do anything before when we all knew he was a racist bigot years ago either.

also hoping Silver gives the Clips players option to become free agents immediately but they don't want to leave LA so CP3 and Blake join the Lakers (tee hee hee)

Not only is he a bigot and a hypocrite, but he's also a terrible owner. In his 33 years of owning the team, the Clippers have been the worst team in the four biggest North American sports leagues.

Also, the sponsors are finally hitting him where it hurts - his wallet.
