So it's Opening Day once again (or at least it's Opening Day to traditionalists like me, who can't recognize a first pitch that occurs in the Southern Hemisphere). I'm going to hope for the best for my Cubbies, even though the realist in me knows that they'll be lucky to escape the National League basement. I'm not a betting man, but since I do like making predictions, I'm going with the Yankees beating the Cardinals in the World Series this year (the pinnacle of bold predictions!).
Any other baseball fans in these parts?

Yogi Berra (of "No one goes to that restaurant anymore it's too busy" fame) flunked out of high school. Upon his departure the principal asked, "Yogi, don't you know anything?" To which Yogi replied, "Sir, I don't even suspect anything."

Seems the Cubs are already off to an iffy start. They just lost to hometown hero Ryne Sandberg - who's now managing the Phillies because the Cubs wanted to hire a bunch of unremarkable managers with no historical connection to the club - at the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field.
FB3K: It's been so long since I've done anything even resembling playing baseball. Even to this day, I wouldn't mind going to a park, grabbing a baseball, and seeing if I could get the ball over the plate. (Not that I think I'll be making the big leagues, considering that even after "bulking up" to 145 pounds, I weigh less than anyone in baseball today and I'm not even Dominican.)

One of the main reasons I love XM... I listen to the Yanks games.
Spring nor summer would arrive were it not for baseball on the radio in my house...and back yard. |
