True. Apparently, good quarterbacks and good coaches have a bigger impact on a team's win-loss record than whether the owner minds putting innocent lives at risk because of his booze problem. Owners have been known to do stupid things, but they're not the ones who actually touch the football.

As far as I can see, he hurt no one.
I don't put much weight into the, "put people at risk" theory. Anyone near a highway is at risk... If we didn't want people at risk on the roads we would eliminate vanity plates and billboards. Not sure why driving after drinking is one of those things that is a crime before anyone gets hurt while listening to a radio or changing a song, or driving while parenting isn't. I drive after drinking with some regularity and having a tantruming tittle is far more distracting and causes you to hit the rumble strips/veer a lot more. (for the record I don't drink then drive with the child in the car..or my wife for that matter.) |

I drive after drinking with some regularity and having a tantruming tittle is far more distracting and causes you to hit the rumble strips/veer a lot more. (for the record I don't drink then drive with the child in the car..or my wife for that matter.) There is a reason why driving under the influence is a crime. DUI creates a problem with public safety and people have died from it, which prompted interest groups like MADD and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) to raise awareness and lobby. Even though I have to agree with you that everyone is at risk driving on a highway or a busy street, when you are impaired, you are putting others at a greater risk, not just yourself (in fact, DUI and DWI are the results of all traffic fatalities 1/3 of the time.) of being involved in a DUI-related accident. And it doesn't matter if distracted driving is far worse than being intoxicated, as the most severe end result of getting involved in a traffic accident is death. And for the love of GOD, think about the people who actually care about your health and safety before you go out on your own and drink.
