Actually being able to SEE what you are drawing can make a pretty big difference in what you can do...
...I wonder how I might fair up in the next Drawing comp on MFGG...

I like the shading on the hat. Your art skills have improved quite a bit, so I hope you keep at it!

Thanks Bibby! Changed the name of the thread. Dr. Light BTW, just in case he's been distorted beyond recognition. |

My entry for MFGG's drawing comp 2014 #1: Beta Elements. For this, I chose Mario Sports Mix. An unused model for Bahamut is hidden within the boss data. --- Edited by: The_Shadow, Mar 22nd, 2014 @ 10:10 am |

Wow, that's really awesome. How'd you do the textures on the wings?

Thanks I generated a texture using a combination of Stagger effects, distortion, rotation, stretched it across the shape of the wings, applied some transparency, then I experimented a bit with blur and sharpen filters, and normalmap generation. It took several tries, but I finally got something that looked decent. reducing the colors on the whole image using a series of controlled contrast overloads and transparency overlays did the rest and covered up a whole lot of ugly. |

Is the lack of buttons on his overalls intentional?

BibbyIs the lack of buttons on his overalls intentional? Yes and no, I was actually initially going to have him in some rather shredded cloths, but I just couldn't get it to look right. I just skipped them when I colored him in this way. |
