The Lakers (18-35) have just 29 games left but are a full 13 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Goodrich lamented the team's struggles, noting some of it was a lack of consistency on the floor -- but acknowledged that the Lakers have had a lot of injuries this year.

"Today's game is much faster. It's a full 94-foot game, everybody is running at full speed. Anything that goes awry, increases the chance for injury," said Goodrich. "When I played, the game was much slower."

I was a sophomore at L.A. High. We played in the Southern League, the inner city league. Manual Arts beat us by 50 points early in the year and were now meeting Poly High from the San Fernando Valley in the City Championship game. No one gave Poly a chance Manual had a front line featuring Malcom Strong that looked like Greg Oden. Goodrich was so good, they won the game. Skinny white boys taking down Manual. I'll never forget how great a player he was. Went on to win NCAA titles at UCLA in a backcourt with Walt Hazzard and HOF status with Lakers.
