Ever wanted to play as Princess Daisy while riding Yoshi and shooting classic nonlethal Nintendo firearms? Did I mention that you're trying to defeat the psychopathic Iranian dictator who has taken over the world? Here's your chance! This is an update of a game I made back in December 2009, now with Windows 8 compatibility and a few other new features:
- Converted game from GM 7 Lite to GM 8 Pro. Added draw_sprite_ext(blah blah blah) to Draw events to cut down on sprite distortion.
- Fixed a bug in GM's sound engine that causes the game to crash if two instances of the same sound play simultaneously.
- Made my custom Zapper sprite less ugly. Some of the other sprites are iffy, though, and if anyone wants to improve on them, be my guest.
- Added Stop 'n' Swop so people who beat this version can enjoy hidden goodies in subsequent Bibby Games (if subsequent Bibby Games actually appear).
- Made it so that you have to finish a level to keep the points earned therein, to prevent points farming.
- Phased out the ugly default GM pause screen.
- Added a simple menu system on the title screen.
- Other small tweaks that no one will notice or care about.
This game came during a strange phase in my game-making life. Daisy: RC was the bridge between the engine clones that dominated the first 2-3 years of my programming days (Marioy 2, Aventura de Luigi, Mario's Steroid Adventure) and the more experimental games that I attempted in 2010 and 2011 (this, Goo, ROTW, etc.). It's not perfect, but I hope you'll get a chuckle out of this admittedly bizarre game.
Some of the graphics could use some work, and there probably are glitches lying under the surface. If people like this, I might spend some more time polishing it up, maybe even adding a nicer Ogg Vorbis soundtrack instead of the graying MIDIs. If this older game hasn't aged well, I'll probably rest content with what I have now. Have fun.
