Oversized glasses, and selfies. Why am I missing the fabulous appeal of vision correction that makes you look like the legendary yet slightly portly Cubs announcer, and of teenagers who spam unflattering cell-phone portraits of themselves?

Selfie - Word of the year 2013. Although selfies have existed waaay before today, its only recently that it has entered into common useage.

True. I still have an old Windows Write document from the summer I was entering third grade, where I ponder what would happen if you shot a photo into a mirror.

(Also, I should clarify that I often enjoy exchanging photos with people; in this topic, I'm mostly talking about teens who disseminate really, really bad self-portraits of themselves, as in the example in the shoutbox.)

I think, that kids do this because they want to look cool, while at the same time, destroying their privacy. And we both know how "socialized" the Internet has become.
