It's not for the computer I usually use, but its monitor's power light started blinking when I tried to turn it on, and it wouldn't start. Turns out this problem's happened to a bunch of people, and it can't really be fixed by the hands of mere mortals. Anyway, I attached a really old monitor as a stand-in for now.

The point is I've had at least four monitors die in the past decade (and not a single hard drive has failed me during that time). Has anyone here come close to breaking this dubious record of mine?

Since 2000 I've been through::
  • 3 machines
  • 2 monitors
  • Countless mouses (mice?) I can count breaking at least 3 out of anger and the rest broke for other reasons.
  • About 4 keyboards I think.
  • 3 USB sticks (getting crushed and/or lost)
  • 1 laptop (I guess that's a keyboard, machine and monitor? not counted above)
I'm on a laptop right now (not the one I broke of course) and the USB mouse I'm using is new as well. Needless to say, I think you easily broke my monitor record but I wonder if I have a record for computer mice...

I've never had a problem of any sort with mice or keyboards. On the subject of other broken computer equipment, I've also lost one printer (its fine Chinese craftsmanship finally gave way last year), one flash drive (an old one I retired in 2008 after living through a fair amount of use and abuse), and one entire computer (a really old CompuAdd with a RAM problem, though thankfully I salvaged all its data). School computers I've taken care of, though, are another story for another day.
