Okay so I tried this "vector" stuff, general art topic in case I do it again

I'm as bad with art as it gets, but I attempted it again anyway. This happened:

Not exactly what I'd call "good", though it is actually quite a bit better than what I was expecting to be able to do. I tried tracing at first, but it didn't work out too well so I wound up free-pointing/curving it with a slightly better result. Apparently that makes things really easy - I guess anyone could do it with that kind of control. Normally I'd call it quits right then and there, but that kind of made me think: Perhaps if I keep fooling around with this stuff I'll eventually be able to turn out something good. I just may keep going with this vector stuff. Expect more, I guess.

Edit: Fixed it up a tiny bit. I missed a detail and it was bugging me so I added it and tweaked the whole thing to be less pointy. Old one here.
I just came to say hello

I think it looks cute. Good effort for a first try. Was this using Adobe Illustrator?

And on that day, mankind received a grim reminder...

Thanks. It was made with Inkscape. I saw a thread on another forum mention it yesterday and then just went and grabbed it to check it out. Pretty nice program, I think.

I tried using Inkscape once. I couldn't quite figure it out.

The eyes and collar look a little funny, but it's definitely a nice start. I wouldn't mind seeing you make more of these.

^ The eyes indeed look a bit weird. Oh well.

Here we have a bat peeking in from above. Didn't really spend any effort on making this pretty; was just a "hey I thought of it, can I actually do it" kind of thing.

Well if you put your mind and effort to it, then you would master this thing known as vector art you are doing.

As for the batman vector, looks very decent.

That's pretty neat, especially the way you made it fully symmetrical.

If ponies ain't your thing (this is probably all of you), you should probably turn back around. Nothing to see here. No siree. Not one thing. Nada.

I've been giving this vector stuff another go for a good while now and have actually made a passable thing or two. But my scope is... quite limited. So far I've only been able to successfully make things with colorful cartoon equines of miniature stature. Yeah, you know, those things from that invasively popular show about the friendship and the magic and all that, that one. I probably won't be able to do anything more than that; I have no mental conception of anatomy of any kind whatsoever, and studying it proves excessively difficult for someone who has no artistic background whatsoever and memory / attention issues piled on top of that. But that show's style is fairly simple; I can kind of trace and fiddle with details here and there, so there's that.

So yeah. I make pony stuff now, with potential arguable regularity even. Because it's the only thing I can do I actually kind of want to. Also because I like cute things.

Image 1: A happy Princess Twilight (my starting attempt, not even remotely good)
Image 2: Same pony hugging a filly (bit of improvement here)
Image 3: That same filly (this kind of works)

I'll be posting all the junk I make and think about at this spot over here:

So if for some out-there reason you somehow actually like what you see, well, that's a thing.

Hee hee... I'm not really a fan of those pervasive ponies, but these are pretty cute. I felt compelled to give you a Tumblr follow. But since I don't Tumbl too often, so there's an excellent chance I'll miss a post unless you tell me about it first.

While on the topic of friendship and magical things, one of my Organizational Behavior group partners (the older guy who withdrew from the class, leaving me with the best-looking but generally least active students) asked an extremely treacherous query during a Hasbro-based presentation in a previous class: "Why is My Little Pony so popular?" This question was gracefully sidestepped, to the benefit of all parties involved.
